solid wood

When we say solid wood, we simply mean that all our furniture is made exclusively from solid wood, just solid wood, always solid wood. No veneer. "We make real furniture for real people."
Solid wood

Wood species

Maple, white oak, and black walnut are the three types of wood we currently use. All our furniture surfaces are made from laminated solid wood planks.

All the wood species we use are "native" wood species, meaning they come from here or at least nearby (either from Eastern Canada (Quebec/Ontario) or the Northeastern United States) -

    • Maple (hardness = 9/10): This hardwood is widely used in furniture and flooring. It has a very smooth, soft feel and a very pale, creamy color, with some areas (approximately 10%) displaying beautiful variations in pale brown. Small, sound knots may occasionally be found randomly on the surfaces and/or soffits. Even though we use high-quality wood, these sound knots are a natural characteristic of the wood and are beautiful signs of the natural material we use. In maple, they are dark brown and add a great deal of character and vibrancy to the wood. It's worth noting that the knots are always filled with epoxy and then stained to artistically mimic the wood's natural appearance.

    • White oak (hardness = 9/10) :
Oak is renowned for its strength, durability, and resilience. With a density exceeding one ton per cubic meter, it is quite heavy, which contributes to its strength and durability. Oak is a highly textured wood with a very visible and tactile grain. When left natural, its color is typically golden. It is a pale wood, with subtle hints of gray, beige, and sometimes pink. Small, natural knots may occasionally be present on the furniture. Even though we use high-quality wood, these knots are a natural characteristic and beautiful signs of the wood's life. However, they are less common in oak than in other woods. It's worth noting that the knots are always filled with epoxy and then stained to artistically mimic the wood's natural appearance. Because oak has an open grain, small cracks may appear over time. These manifestations are natural transformations of the oak and as they are beyond our control, they are not covered by the manufacturing warranty.

    • Black walnut (hardness = 7.5/10): This is the lightest of our woods, while still maintaining good hardness (hardwood). It is a noble and refined wood that lends a very luxurious look to your furniture. Walnut is very smooth to the touch and displays beautiful color variations, ranging from caramel to chocolate brown. Small, natural knots may occasionally be present in the tabletops and/or on the legs. Even though we use high-quality wood, these knots are part of the wood and are beautiful signs of the natural material we use. In walnut, the knots are black and blend beautifully with the wood's grain and color variations. It should be noted that the knots are always filled with epoxy and then stained to artistically mimic the wood's natural appearance.
